The Teleporter | Handheld Augmented Reality Project (HARP) | Sample Content
HARP was a Department of Education-funded study exploring the effects of augmented reality and games on learning. The study included researchers at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and the Teacher Education Program at MIT. Part of Kevin Preis’ role was to produce materials that could be developed into new augmented reality experiences for middle- and high-school students.
Preis developed original story ideas, video scripts, game logic, and related assets for The Teleporter. In the story, a thief has stolen the Space Ripper, a suit that allows a person to warp from place to place instantaneously. As specialists in different fields of science and law enforcement, the students’ job was to stop the thief before he/she could escape.
